REDUCTION OF THE SEISMIC MASS
LARGE SPANS
NO NON-STANDARD THICKNESS BEAMS
REDUCTION OF LOADS ON COLUMNS AND FOUNDATIONS
MINIMUM CONSUMPTION OF STEEL AND CONCRETE
HIGH ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE
Schools are buildings that need to be highly protected from catastrophic natural occurences such as earthquakes. There are various solutions to reduce the seismic risk, one of these is the creation of a lightened bidirectional slab that combines the structural characteristics of the plate slabs. The reduction of the slab weight allows the reduction of the seismic mass that may be stressed during an earthquake, making the sesimic check cheaper and improving the steel consumption. Moreover, the structural performance of a lightened bidrectional slab is absolutely to be taken into consideration, it can create large spans with reduced thickness, improve the vertical placing of the structure (walls and columns) and give the possibility to build full bands (beams and pulvines). Finally, the last but not the least important aspect is the acoustic performances that are proved to be better in respect to a brick-cemented slab.
